Flagler Beach is located on Florida’s east coast 15 miles north of the very famous Daytona Beach and 36 miles south of St. Augustine. A small quiet town with a population of a little over five thousand residents and visitors from all over Florida come to enjoy over six miles of uncrowded beaches. With all sorts of activities happening all year long, enjoy arts and crafts, live music and local entertainment. On every Friday there’s the Flagler Beach Farmers Market with a variety of fruits and vegetables and baked goods in the center of town. Flagler Beach is busy during the 4th of July celebration over at Veteran’s Park with arts & crafts, carnival games and music. Even local vendors provide free entertainment though out the day. Of course during the night enjoy some spectacular fireworks from the pier or on the beach.
You don’t have to wait until the 4th of July to visit Flagler Beach. The city offers great fishing areas such as the Flagler Beach Municipal Pier, areas around the Intracoastal Waterway, which flows through the town of Flagler Beach, or just fish from the pier. If fishing doesn’t fulfill your sporting needs, perhaps a game of 9-hole golf will do, if not, try out one of the bike trails along the 20 mile stretch beside the Atlantic Ocean. Flagler Beach offers other sporting fun such as boating, kayaking, snorkeling, bird watching, and hiking trails.
The best way to get to all of these fun places is to walk! Since everything is close to each other such as restaurants, gift shops, cafes, convenience stores, pubs, supermarkets, and other great stores. Along the way, stop by the Princess Place Preserve, which contains the oldest standing home site in the county. Or take one of the eco-tours in Flagler Beach especially Marineland of Florida, the world’s first Oceanarium, the Pellicer Creek Aquatic Preserve Corridor, the River to the Sea Preserve and Graham’s Swamp Conservation Area.
